Of, althans, interesse in dans en psychologie.</strong> Daarom raadden mijn dansdocenten mij aan, toen ik in vwo 6 zat, om eens bij de bachelor <a href="https://www.zuyd.nl/opleidingen/vaktherapie/danstherapie?gad_source=1&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQiA_Yq-BhC9ARIsAA6fbAgSRqEfGHjW1aTZFVdI8cBnOhpMGkLl3MZuXB3zevJX6rNLWrS2fYEaAgKrEALw_wcB" rel="nofollow" style="color:#527a65 !important;">Danstherapie</a> van Zuyd Hogeschool te kijken. Tijdens een meeloopdag maakte ik kennis met <a href="https://www.authenticmovementinstitute.com/authenticmovement#:~:text=Authentic%20Movement%20is%20a%20completely,witness%2C%20being%20seen%20and%20seeing." rel="nofollow" style="color:#527a65 !important;">authentic movement</a> en was ik onder de inruk van het niveau van de theorielessen. Toch koos ik er uiteindelijk niet voor, want ik had een opleiding gevonden waar ik zowel podiumkunsten, als psychologie als kunstgeschiedenis kon studeren. En dat leek me toch leuker.</p><p style="color:inherit;font-size:.9375em;margin:0 0 1.25em 0;font-weight:normal;height:1.618em;font-family:'DejaVu Sans Condensed', 'Liberation Sans', 'Nimbus Sans L', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;letter-spacing:-.01em;line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;" class=""></p><p style="color:inherit;font-size:.9375em;margin:0 0 1.25em 0;font-weight:normal;font-family:'DejaVu Sans Condensed', 'Liberation Sans', 'Nimbus Sans L', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;letter-spacing:-.01em;line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;" class="">Zo’n vier jaar later stond ik voor eenzelfde keuze: ging ik alsnog een opleiding in danstherapie doen? Bijvoorbeeld de master <a href="https://www.codarts.nl/en/education/masters/master-of-arts-therapies/dance-therapy/about/" rel="nofollow" style="color:#527a65 !important;">Dance Movement Therapy</a> van Codarts? Toen ik hoorde dat ze daar liever mensen aannemen die wat ouder zijn en wat meer levenservaring hebben, stelde ik de keuze weer uit. Eerst maar danswetenschappen studeren dan, in de Verenigde Staten. Ook leuk! <strong>Toen had ik inmiddels ook door dat het bij danstherapie echt gaat om het bieden van therapie via dans, meer dan om het aanreiken van een therapeutische danservaring.</strong> En ik was toch meer geïnteresseerd in dat laatste. In die tijd wilde ik eigenlijk vooral mezelf helen via dans, niet anderen.</p><p style="color:inherit;font-size:.9375em;margin:0 0 1.25em 0;font-weight:normal;height:1.618em;font-family:'DejaVu Sans Condensed', 'Liberation Sans', 'Nimbus Sans L', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;letter-spacing:-.01em;line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;" class=""></p><p style="color:inherit;font-size:.9375em;margin:0 0 1.25em 0;font-weight:normal;font-family:'DejaVu Sans Condensed', 'Liberation Sans', 'Nimbus Sans L', 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;letter-spacing:-.01em;line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;" class="">Toch bleef het kriebelen. Ook toen ik studeerde in Californië, waar ik een workshop volgde van <a href="https://www.dansdocent.nu/dansnieuws/2021/5/25/beroemde-choreograaf-anna-halprin-overleden?rq=halprin&amp;ss_source=sscampaigns&amp;ss_campaign_id=67c2ced2252f8f42eb5ac158&amp;ss_email_id=67c2e5bc252f8f42eb5bb4ae&amp;ss_campaign_name=Hoe+benut+je+de+kracht+van+dans+%28beter%29%3F&amp;ss_campaign_sent_date=2025-03-01T10%3A47%3A50Z" rel="nofollow" style="color:#527a65 !important;">Anna Halprin</a> (toen al ver in de 90 en een absolute legende). <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1351105/" rel="nofollow" style="color:#527a65 !important;">Toen Halprin begin de jaren ‘70 kanker kreeg, gebruikte ze dans om zichzelf te genezen</a>. Daarna ontwikkelde ze innovatieve programma’s en dansvoorstellingen voor mensen met kanker en AIDS. In 1987 richtte ze samen met haar dochter Daria Halprin het <a href="https://www.tamalpa.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" style="color:#527a65 !important;">Tamalpa Institute</a> op in Californië om anderen op te leiden in haar danstherapeutische methode: <a href="https://www.tamalpa.org/professional-training" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" style="color:#527a65 !important;">Life/Art Process</a>. <strong>Als ik twintig jaar ouder was geweest en Anna Halprin dus twintig jaar eerder had kunnen ontmoeten, was ik bij haar in de leer gegaan. Want iedereen was welkom in haar studio:</strong> professionele dansers en amateurs, gezonde en zieke mensen, mensen uit de wijk. Toen ik nog voor <em>Dans Magazine</em> werkte deed ik mee aan de <a href="https://www.codarts.nl/agenda/event/introduction-to-dance-movement-therapy/" rel="nofollow" style="color:#527a65 !important;">introductieweek</a> van de masteropleiding van Codarts en hield ik een <a href="https://dansmagazine.nl/blog/codarts-dance-therapy-intensive-course-dag-1" rel="nofollow" style="color:#527a65 !important;">dagboek</a> bij. Ik deed mee aan deze cursus omdat ik wilde weten welke danstherapeutische vaardigheden nuttig zijn voor dansdocenten, en van welke didactische methodes dansdocenten beter afscheid kunnen nemen. <strong>Een vraag die me bezighield is hoe ik als docent een veilige ruimte kan creëren voor mijn leerlingen, </strong>omdat het niet ongebruikelijk is dat leerlingen psychische problemen hebben en mee de les in nemen. En daar moet je op de een of andere manier dan toch mee zien te dealen.
